  1. Wash the sweet potatoes, peel and cut into small discs.
  2. Take water in a pan. Add sweet potatoes, salt, turmeric powder and boil for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Add sugar, tamarind paste and let it cook for 3-4 minutes. Keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a wok. Add panch phutan, red chilli, ginger, curry leaves, hing and saute it for few seconds.
  5. Add boiled sweet potatoes and allow it to cook for 3-4 minutes on a low flame.
  6. Then add roasted cumin-red chilli powder and grated coconut. Turn off the flame.
  7. Thus ready to serve is the delicious sweet potato khata (chutney).
